Transmitting PoMoCo Commands Over Bluetooth

Excellent to know that we can just use 9v for the logic. I just tested out this configuration, and it fixed the Bluetooth dropout problems.

If there’s a solution to the need to unplug/plug the Bluetooth module everytime Hexy is powered up, I’d feel like my Bluetooth setup was working perfectly.

Actually, I just did more testing with Hexy and a 9v for logic power, and I can take back my last comment, Bluetooth works perfectly!

I had my Hexy (dubbed Jittery Joe by my kids) take a 15 ft walk across the room untethered. Worked absolutely perfectly.

For the record, my current setup is 4x AA hooked to the servo port. 1x 9v Alkaline hooked to the logic port. Both sets fit on the battery tray with the 9v on the shorter connector up front and the AAs in the back on the longer lead.

I have a question about how the batteries fit in, are you able to slide the battery tray in and out or do you have to unscrew/screw the battery shelf piece from underneath Hexy to change the batteries each time? My battery tray almost slides in with the battery shelf attached but the gap is just too shallow, by about the width of the PVC.

My battery tray just slides onto the shelf. It’s pretty much a perfect fit, not tight, but tipping Hexy does not allow the batteries to slide about. If the wires get caught under the battery tray, it doesn’t fit.

Very frustrating indeed !

I have a need to connect to a bluetooth device and capture a serial data stream, but as things stand that’s not going to happen.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 L4T R15.01 (Kernel 3.1.10), I am no longer able to pair bluetooth devices with the Trim Slice. The gnome bluetooth applet sees the devices, but just will not pair with them regardless of the passcode entered.

This problem has been reported by others using 11.04 on other platforms.
