Cannot install SparkiDuino on Mac OS X

Hi. I get an error when I run SparkiDuino on my Mac. (OS X Mavericks.) I can unzip the zip file no problem. But then, when I double-click SparkiDuino, the OS says “SparkiDuino is damaged and cannot be opened. It should be moved to the Trash.”

The zip file is SparkiDuino-OSX-1.0.5.3.zip

We have several warnings about this in the OSX install guide:
“If you receive errors running SparkiDuino, try following this guide.”

I had this EXACT same problem with my Mac/Sparkiduino install, but it was a totally different issue. It turned out to be an issue with the archive utility. If I extracted the ZIP using the default “Archive Utility” app, I got a corrupt SparkiDuino.app file that wouldn’t run ("‘SparkiDuino.app’ is damaged and can’t be opened"). If I unzip it with Stuffit Expander, it works just fine…

Following the guide solved my problems. But this is not the way™ to do it. I install lots of unsigned programs and all of those can be started by right-clicking the program, choose ‘open’, accept and then the program starts. You do this one time and afterwards it starts normal - no fiddling with preferences.
Sparkiduino is the very first program that got me jumping through this hoop. Please fix it - it is annoying.

Agree with Poesel. This shouldn’t have to be done. One of many many issues with this product.

Agree with poesel. I’ve never seen this work around requirement for any other programs I’ve installed on my Mac.

I unZip ‘sparkiDuino’ with free software “keka”(found in App store) on a mac os(mavericks) and the app run ok

The problem has to do with application signing. We had to sign up for Apple’s development program (and pay them $99/year  ) but we now have a signed application that no longer displays this error. We’re uploading now. That should put this issue to rest.

Thanks. Love the quick support.
