Damage to board from first build instructions

In the original build instructions they used the 5 AA battery holder and I like many built and tested with that instruction.
Would there have been any significant damage to the servos and/or the circuit board by over powering?

I’m still having a number of issues with Hexy where the expected leg movement is opposite of what I am getting.
the reset move from PoMoCo has legs moving randomly, some curling up others down some not at all.
I have been through all the changes with firmware upgrades and PoMoCo upgrade.
I have replaced defective or broken servos.
I have bought the recommended batteries as per a number of posts here.
I have been running PoMoCo via a Mac but that should have no effect.
I’m going to try running it from a PC with Ubuntu but that should be no different.

The only thing left is that there may have been some damage to the circuit board but I expect that is highly unlikely.
So far I’ve yet to get anything expected out of Hexy and it’s getting a little frustrating.

I had some of your issue, it was for two reasons:

  1. not enough power (not your problem I guess)
  2. some servos were not properly centered

you can regolate servos’ offsets via PoMoCo, give it a try after you set all servos to 1500

Thanks Andrea, but I have done all that centred when I built and adjusted with PoMoCo.
It is almost as if the polarity of the servos is wrong.
Interestingly enough if I use PoMoCo to check the movement on each servo they all move in the same direction when the slider is moved to anything less than the 1500 centre and work the same in the oposite direction.
One thing I have also noticed is that if all the servos are active moving the 0 slider all the servos will jerk around.
Seems as if there is nothing that completely isolates the channels, if that is the case with all the sliders oe channels then it is no wonder that I can’t get Hexy to make the proper moves.

Thinking about it if there is a problem with the circuit board the odd movements may be the reason that nothing works right.
Indevidually the legs operate as expected, when a number of them are on at the same time all receiving different information the cross over of movements to the channels or legs would cause all sorts of problems.

Any thoughts on this from roboalchemist?

Here is a video of what my Hexy does.
I’m using PoMoCo and the preset movements.
Everything is updated as I’ve stated in posts above.
It might be a little low on the audio but I describe each movement before I activate it.
If anyone can tell me why this is hapopening I will be truely gratefull.

Yeah, the board looks like its fine. It actually looks like a classic wiring mis-match. I’d suggest double-checking connection according to the connection chart:

You can do this pretty easily in PoMoCo by just centering and killing each leg as you go.

It’s really hard to tell from this picture, are the battery ports at the top of the picture or bottom?
I was pretty sure that I had the wireing done right, but i’ll check, it could be all wrong.
If I do a leg by leg move in PoMoCo I was sure the right leg was moving with the right slider.

stranger things have happened.

I left Hexy at work, now I can’t wait to get in and check the wireing.
I was looking at the picture and now I’m almost certain that that is the problem.
I’ll report on my progress tomorrow.

the servotor batt port location does not matter, the board has the nr’s written next to the headers

Well, that certainly made a difference.

A recharge of the batteries should do the trick.
