disappointed by inaccurate peices

First, a few of the hip peices did not fit together. I quadruple checked the instructions, and tried interchanging with some other legs. These peices were definitely a different size! I used some sand-paper to make some peices a little smaller, and they fit together ok.

But the next hurdle is a little harder. The bottom part of the body needs the X shaped horns on each protrusion, attached with the timny screws. 5 horns went in just fine, but the last one… the holes (both) were too large for the supplied screws! I tried 10 different screws, all were too small, not attaching the horn to the base. I scratched around my junk drawer, and found some scres that were a similar size.

It was looking promising, til I used too much torque, and the screw broke off in the base. So now, I dunno what to do. Help!

You should try flipping it over. I did find that when I had a part where the holes were too big flipping it over made them fit. FYI none of the holes on my body where tight enough to hod the servo horns until I flipped it over, then they all screwed in fine.

+1 on “flipping over”.

Basically, the acrylic pieces are laser-cut and, for whatever reason, the screw holes have a smaller diameter on one side than on the other. The small screws are so short that they are not “biting” into the plastic when you screw them on the side with the wider diameter.

flipping over the mount for the screw to hold the ultrasonic servo doesn’t work. I think they should have used threaded screws the same diameter as the screws that came with the servos and put nuts on them.

That’s wierd, I had the same issue and it worked fine when I flipped it.

Another solution is to use a little bit of either thread lock or a drop of super glue in the hole. That should give it just enough ‘fill’ to allow it to grip well. One good thing is that e ultrasonic servo doesn’t have a lot of stress on it like the hips/legs/feet do.

I’m confused as to what this suggestion means. None of the screws included with the servos are capable of having nuts on them.
