Hexy Failure

I’ve completed the assembly of my Hexy, and have even successfully gotten it to move with the PoMoCo software.

However, after a short time something failed. When I hit a move command now, Hexy makes a few slightly jerky movements and then dies. It doesn’t appear to be the servos, because when I plug one into a reset (0,1,2,3) pin it moves to the proper 1500 setting. I’m not sure if it’s the board either though, because the servos are able to be reset. Could this be a software issue?

Also, I should note that I haven’t been able to successfully power Hexy’s servos using just the usb cable. I’ve always had to use the supplementary battery pack to get movement. Even so, Hexy never was able to lift himself up on his own.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Firstly hexy is not ment to be powered by USB.

What you are discribing seams to be a lack of power. What kind of battery’s are you using and how many?

I’m using 4xAA Alkaline batteries. When checked with a multimeter the pack is registering at 5.44 volts.

Solved: It was indeed a battery issue. Bought NiMH batteries as specified in the guide you linked, and now Hexy is working better than ever.

You are very welcome, have fun with your hexy and remember hexy does not like alkaline bats :slight_smile:
