Hexy is awesome, but broken.

Hello,

I just got hexy and I am having alllll sorts of trouble getting him to execute motions correctly. When I upload the servortor to his board, the legs will go haywire, but in this specific way. They seem to start the motion in the correct fashion, but then they malfunction. Ive got all the motors connected in the way the build log states, I even re-did them all just to check. Am I uploading the wrong file? Any help in this matter is awesome. I’m using a mac with osx and the 5 battery power source.

A new update,

using the 4 battery power source makes hexy do different incorrect motions, and when I plug the power source in, the legs move without any commands.

What batteries are you using? Mine goes nuts too when it draws more current than the batteries can supply. So I upgraded to rechargeable batteries similar to those recommended on this site, and it works fine.

Well, I was using the Nimh re-chargeable style of batteries. I do not know what else to do? Which servotor file do should be uploaded?

What is the motion of the movement? Do all the legs curl at the same time inwards, like a dead spider?

Well, some of the legs curl up backwards. Others legs just lay there. Its not a uniform leg action. Which is why I ask, which servotor file do you upload. The servotor file I downloaded has like, 7 files in it. I want to make sure I am not uploading the wrong file to my sweet little hexy.

Those files are a single program’s source code. You simply have to open the sketch and upload that.

Just to be overly clear, the file named servotor32_default.ino is the correct one to load? If so, that’s amazing.

Well! I got little Hexy up and being an adorable robot. Seems it has a bad servo though, in the hip of one leg. And, all the servos are noisy in a way that makes me want to immediately replace them. So, I am going to! I think I will start the upgrades with the metal geared servos you folks have talked about in the upgrade forum. Thanks all for your input!
