Hobbyking servos prelim report

After blowing servos 10 and 11, I have started replacing them (usually leg) with the Hobby king servos someone mentioned in this forum. (HK15178B)
They are metal geared and may be able to take the stress better. So far 3 observations: 1) they seem to have more torque. Hexy rises easier. 2) They are white and don’t go well with my blue hexy :frowning: . 3) the kill servos command doesn’t. They stay powered. This may be a problem when enough are in service. Does anyone know how to “kill” them? If you remove power from the hexy, they stay off.

I’ll let you know how durable they are in a week of testing.

Never did see anyone reccomend the servos you are using.

Didn’t see them. are they good? Do they turn off when you detach them? Mine seem to hold. And most important :slight_smile: do they come in blue?

I have had to replace one servo so far, and I used the TGY-50090M .

If you change out the horn also, it is a good physical match.

The KIll servo function does work for this servo. Not sure why it would not work for the HK15178B also.

Both the case and the label are blue, vs the SG92R with a blue case and red label.

They appear to have similar or better torque than the SG92R also.

I have had some of my SG92R slip in the horn, this means stopping everything and re-calibrating.
Looking at the TGY-50090M I think this is much less likely to happen.

So far I am very happy with TGY-50090M as a replacement.

If you’re in the US, prepare for a 3+ week wait once you order.

I finally figured out why the HK servos don’t “release”. They are digital servos (The “b” is the digital form). The hexy tower pros are analog as are the ones you recommended. Since the hold current is an unneeded draw, I will switch to those.
