i have been haveing trouble installing pyserial. does anyone know how?
what sort of trouble? trouble could mean any number of things without letting us know what exactly your problem is we can not help
Please tell us:
Your System:
Linux? Mac? Windows?
Version:
XP? Vista? 7?
Architecture:
32bit? 64bit?
Yes.
i am running windows 7 and i have 32bit
I had no trouble, in spite of changing the default directory that the python installation script suggested.
The subsequent installation of pyserial found the python directory (using the registry) with no drama, and just installed.
Mind you, I’m using Windows XP.
Aside from the operating system, the only things I can think of are incompatible versions (sure you are using python 2.7.3?) or maybe previously installed versions of either python or pyserial.
I’m using the versions that the Hexy instruction page gave me.
What does having troubles entail? Does it mean it just doesn’t let you install it? Or that it doesn’t run correctly once installed? I’m not really sure what stage you’re at.
when I try to run pomoco it closes the second I open it.I know that I have the right versions of python and pysierial installed.I still am having problems when I try the solutions you gave to me.
Make sure pyserial is version 2.6.
Edit:
I posted earlier that the link was not for pyserial 2.6.
The version on the link from arcbotics is correct. Just make sure that you chose 64 bit or 32 bit.
can yo give me a link?
PySerial is available in the getting started guide:
arcbotics.com/products/hexy/start/
I think I found a install tutorial for pyserial on Adafruits web site
Well that didn’t work.Any ideas?
What about it doesn’t work? Could you be more specific?
