Linear voltage regulator

While waiting for my hexy to ship I’ve been noticing lots of people having issues over-powering their’s and frying the board or otherwise causing damage.

So I’ve been thinking. Is it worth putting a linear voltage regulator circuit inbetween the power supply and the servotor board? I notice there isn’t one on the board already and I’m wondering if that was due to space constraints or some other reason.

If it is worth having one (or two) then instructions on how to make one and connect it to hexy could be a good next thing to do for DIY enthusiasts.

The servotor board itself has a voltage regulator for the logic part of it, but a linear voltage regulator just isn’t practical for the amount of current the servos draw. We are looking at optional switchmode regulators to use lipos, though.
