looking for a hexy skeleton

I am looking for the body of a hexy. If you are tired of yours or have one that is non-functioning but NOT broken (the body parts) I might be interested in buying it. Non-functioning servos and/or dead electronics are not an issue. I want to replace the board with an arduino mega and have extra servos. As long as the body is intact. Let’s make a deal.

Are there any alternative hexapod robot kits available for Hexy?

Does anyone know the size of the “tiny” screws used to attach the horns to the legs? My kit shipped without the tiny screws and I am stuck (The long and medium screws were there in the bag though). I have asked arcbotics to send me the missing screws, but would like to see if I can source it locally.

I saw this hexapod kit that might work for hexy as an alternative, it’s cheap and lightweight:

That acrylic is 3mm acrylic, the thinnest you can get. Its very easy to break. I’m also guessing its the cheaper extruded acrylic versus the processed cast acrylic we use.
Also notice how unlike Hexy, the legs only have one piece per joint, and rely entirely on the servo arm for support. This leads to a lot of bending, making most finer inverse kinematics useless.

That particular brand of servo is a clone of the brand we used to use (and left because they weren’t good enough), which uses really cheap recycled nylon for their gears. Use them for longer then 5-10 minutes and the gears overheat from the motor to the point where they start soften, warp and snap. If you contact the servo manufacturer, they’ll actually label them as “Chinese domestic market only” vs the “export quality” version. i.e. the cheap crap.

If you really want an alternative to Hexy and want to make it as cheap as possible, we suggest 3d-printing your own parts from our files and purchasing our servos. We’ve spent a lot of time touring factories and testing to make sure we got the best value.

Where are the stl files. I have a blue hexy. I want to print a red and black one.

We host all the files for Hexy on our Github:
