One of my Pins seems to not work right.

One of the pins on my board seems not to work.

I have tried multiple servos on the pin as well as different methods of activating the pin set. No go.

I changed the leg that it was effecting in the PoMoCo robot file and it works well with the pin switch but I would like to make sure it works and get my Hexy to the default pin setup soon.

Any ideas on how I should test it to determine 100% that it’s a bum pin or not?

In a sense, you’ve already tested it and validated the pins don’t work.

If you have a multimeter, you can narrow down the specific defect by doing the following:

Probe the voltage (VCC) and the ground (GND) pins to ensure a current is running.

Next, you want to probe the signal (SIG) and ground pins to ensure that you’re good by running PoMoCo, turn on that pin and ensuring you can measure a current.

It’s possible the pins aren’t soldered quite right and can be repaired by heating up the pins with a soldering iron to soften the solder enough to allow you to reseat the pins.

NOTE: Given there are 32 servo pins, you’re probably better off leaving well enough alone. If you choose to fix it, do so with extreme care as you risk damaging the board when you re-solder.

We test every pin on every board before we ship, once at the factory, and again before we ship, so this should be fairly uncommon. Did you try typing ‘C’ in the arduino serial monitor? (that should force all servo pins to center). If it turns out that a pin actually is bad, we’d be more than happy to exchange your board, you can email at replacements@arcbotics.com
