Servo not moving, though it initialized

Hi

I just build my hexy. I have some problems with 3 servo’s (out of 2 kits, just out of luck i guess). They did the center and initialization phase on pin 0. After building though they where not moving when testing them in PoMoCo. I tried both the servo’s on another port and another servo on the port with the not moving servo. The working servo worked on both ports, while the non working servo does not work on any port. Though, when connecting it, it moves a tiny bit when it starts… Is there anything that I can do, besides getting new servo’s?

Regards,
Patrick

It sound like the servos might have gotten their gears damaged. If you use PoMoCo to try to move the damaged servo you should hear some noise from it as the slider moves, but won’t see the output shaft turn. You can replace the gear set pretty easily for not much cash, if that really is the problem.

Another way of diagnosing a damaged gear is to (gently) move the joint with the damaged servo. A working servo will sound very different to a damaged one. BEWARE it is very easy to damage a servo in this manner though. Be careful.

I believe that Arcbotics will replace any servos that were shipped defective, might be wrong about that though. Try emailing them for support. Good luck!
