So I got bored waiting for my hexy..

I sent this to Joe and he recommend posting this here since there’s a lot of attention on hexapod robots here :smiley:

So I got bored waiting for my hexy to arrive so I designed and built my own… :slight_smile: just for fun. The body design is not exactly perfect, but it’s fairly sturdy, I have a newer and much better design in the works which I can cut up soon (the benefits of owning a laser cutter :smiley:). I also ended up designing the board and writing the code from scratch. I can do up to 24 pwm channels with the cpu running at 50Mhz. Working out some bugs with the cpu speed and optimization, so it’s running a bit slow right now…

Anyway, total cost for me was about $300, but I bought bulk parts. This thing could easily be $150 or less.

I should note that I’m excited to get my Hexy, glad to see a low cost hexapod finally on the market!

Very cool arko. Is that a plastic filament reel that you’re using as a body? Would love to see more of him/her. Are you going to upload a build log or anything?

It’s all laser cut acrylic. I will release all the cad files, dxf’s, electronics, and code when they are some what done. I don’t want to throw it out there half finished. I would hate someone to build a board only to discover an error, I’d feel guilty. I’d rather have it proven working then release it for free. Soon though… looking at being done in 2-3 weeks. Then I’ll have time to play with hexy when it arrives. :smiley:
