So I got bored waiting for my hexy to arrive so I designed and built my own…
just for fun. The body design is not exactly perfect, but it’s fairly sturdy, I have a newer and much better design in the works which I can cut up soon (the benefits of owning a laser cutter
). I also ended up designing the board and writing the code from scratch. I can do up to 24 pwm channels with the cpu running at 50Mhz. Working out some bugs with the cpu speed and optimization, so it’s running a bit slow right now…
Anyway, total cost for me was about $300, but I bought bulk parts. This thing could easily be $150 or less.

I should note that I’m excited to get my Hexy, glad to see a low cost hexapod finally on the market!
