VMWare Fusion Issue

I’m on Mac OSX Mavericks. I host a Windows VM using VMWare Fusion. Whenever VMWare is running, my board will not connect (even if the VM itself isn’t running.) I’m trying to connect it to the host OS (Mac), not the Windows VM. If I kill VMWare Fusion, it works fine. Obviously this is a problem with VMWare, but I’ve been unable to find a fix. Has anyone else encountered this and have you found a solution?

The obvious solution is to not run VMWare but there are some tools I use which require me to keep that running most of the time.

Also I tried following the guide here to no avail:

For what it’s worth, I’m also running VMware Fusion (6.0.2) on OS X Mavericks but have had no issues connecting the USB cable to Sparki.

Sorry, I can’t help you but which programming related software do you need to have to run a VM? I’m just curious.

I don’t think ForceBlast’s issue is that the programming software needs a VM. The issue is that VMware is installed on the machine and it is causing problems when trying to communicate with Sparki via the USB cable.

GetRoot is correct. Unrelated to Sparki/Arduino I do software development which requires me to run tools like MS SQL Server Enterprise Manager (as well as a bunch of other Windows-only tools.)

Shutting down my VM when I want to play around with Sparki a bit is a hassle. I can live with it, but I was hoping I didn’t have to.

Thanks for your input guys. I’ll keep searching when I get more time and if I find a solution I’ll follow up here in case others have the same issue.
