Where should the batteries go?

I see that I can fit one battery pack above the shelf and thread the cable through to the servo plug. I’ll do this with the 5 cell NiMH pack.

The second pack which I’ve seen described as “optional” isn’t really optional in normal use at all: I plan on using Bluetooth for any connection and not having my Hexy tethered to a computer, which I imagine is the common use case - in that case where is the second battery pack (4XAA) supposed to be positioned?

I typically use a 9v, but in either case I just let it sit in top above the controller board.

I can squeeze a 9V PP3 battery on the shelf below the Servotor32, with the 4AA pack behind it. This all fits neatly on the shelf and supports Hexy running around on Bluetooth without any hassle. Good luck!

Thanks all - I’d prefer to use the 5XAA so I’ll see if I can get that to fit as described, but in either case it sounds like a 9V is the preferred option for the logic power. I’ll get a NiMh 9V which may run a little short of 9 but I suppose to be OK in this case as it could run on lower voltage.

Totally sufficient. Anything over 5v will do. Also, logic barely draws power in comparison to the servos, so a 9v should last quite a while.

Thanks - I got it up and running, sort of, tonight, albeit without Bluetooth. I had to keep resettting the servos which were losing “center” erratically. I think that my batteries were running low (5XNiMh) so I decided to call it a night while they recharge.
